Exercises

Here is a simple routine : before playing music, play one set as a warm-up. In four days you will finish the cycle and then start a new one.

Most of the exercises are played with hands separately because its easier.

Play not fast, focus on sound and relax. Only needed muscles should be contracted and only when it is needed.

Feel motivated to play it. If you are not you can warm-up differently with sight-reading or improvisation or playing a piece you know.

It takes between 10 and 15 minutes for one set. But if you are not familiar with it can be longer. If you are motivated you can play it all but I suggest you stop at 15 minutes and play the other part another day. Progressively you will be able to complete one set in less than 15 minutes.

Once you know the sets you can test another scale. For instance if you play a music in G minor you can transpose the set in G minor.

You can integrate some exercices in your session to tackle specific difficulties of the music you play.

Don’t hesitate to ask your piano teacher some advices about the way to play it.

Set 1 : one note at a time

Set 2 : two notes at the same time

Set 3 : polyphony and harmony

Set 4 : scales and arpeggios
